We believe everyone should have access to top-tier legal support.

Our mission is to help Australians through separation by making high-quality legal tools and support affordable and accessible.

No one should feel stuck in a relationship, delay their next step or face important decisions without support because they cannot afford legal fees or do not know what help is available. That is why we built Split Ways.

Start with a free split estimate, then prepare consent orders when you have an agreement. Split Explore, our free asset-division workspace, is coming soon. Our tools are built to help you find clarity and move towards a fresh start.

Online tools keep costs down. You choose the support you need.

Our 100% online process automates information gathering and preliminary drafting, reducing the routine work involved in preparing your application. That lets us focus lawyer expertise where it matters and pass the savings on to you.

Start with our free planning tools. When you are ready to formalise an agreement, SplitBase provides online document preparation from $1,199 including GST. Choose SplitPlus for family lawyer review and filing, or SplitPro for an additional 60-minute consultation. You pay for a defined level of support, with the fee clear upfront.

Choose the support that gives you confidence

For suitable couples who have agreed and want professional review before filing, SplitPlus brings the preparation, review and filing together in one fixed-fee service. SplitPro adds consultation time if you want to talk the agreement through.

If you are comfortable taking responsibility for checking and filing your own documents, SplitBase starts at $1,199 including GST, plus the court fee. It does not include lawyer review. The table shows what each level of support costs.

    Compare like-for-like work

A document service, a lawyer-reviewed application and individual representation cover different work. Ask what is included instead of relying on a headline price.

Lawyer review in a package is not the same as independent advice for each person. Read which kind of legal support you may need.

    • Preparation of the application and proposed orders.
    • Lawyer review or individual legal advice, if included.
    • Who files the documents and responds to follow-up requests.
    • Any consultation time, exclusions or additional charges.

Real family law expertise behind the tools

Accessible support starts with knowing who is behind it. Split Ways was co-founded by Abbey Pugh, an Accredited Specialist in Family Law. SplitPlus and SplitPro include family lawyer review before filing; SplitPro also includes a 60-minute consultation.

Can you prepare and file consent orders yourself?

You can prepare an application without paying a document-preparation service. You are responsible for the financial information, proposed orders, supporting documents, signing and filing. The court still decides whether to make the orders.

Self-filing does not remove the need to understand the legal effect of your agreement. Consider individual legal advice, especially if there is uncertainty, a disclosure dispute, pressure to agree or complex property. Any advice or drafting help you obtain separately has its own fee.

Understand the documents you will need

    Keep the court charge separate

As checked on 26 September 2026, both the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the Family Court of Western Australia list $215 for an application for consent orders. GST does not apply to court fees. WA uses its own application process and forms.

An exemption may be available if you meet the court’s requirements. Check the official fee and exemption guidance below before filing, because fees and eligibility can change. An exemption from the court fee does not waive a professional’s service fee.

SplitBase customers pay the court separately when they file. SplitPlus and SplitPro show the court charge separately from the service price. The totals above assume the standard fee applies.

Plan for the work outside the application

Your settlement may also involve a valuation, conveyancing, refinancing, tax advice or a superannuation implementation fee. Those tasks are not automatically covered by a consent-order package.

If you obtain another professional quote, ask for a written scope. Compare the fees, inclusions and exclusions before deciding which service fits.

    A few common questions

Is the court fee included in the package price?

No. Split Ways service prices include GST, with the $215 court application fee shown separately. SplitBase customers pay it directly when they file. The combined totals above include the standard court fee, unless an exemption applies.

Is lawyer review included in every package?

SplitBase includes documents for self-filing without lawyer review. SplitPlus includes family lawyer review and filing. SplitPro adds a 60-minute lawyer consultation. Review is not automatically independent legal advice for both people.

    What could cost extra?

Valuations, conveyancing, refinancing, tax advice, superannuation implementation and separately arranged professional advice may involve additional charges. Ask the relevant provider for a written scope and quote before proceeding.

Does paying the fee guarantee the court will approve our orders?

No. The court assesses the proposed orders and may ask for more information or changes. Payment covers the stated service and application charge, not a guaranteed court decision.
